HECC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was created at the request of USA Hockey in 1978. The purpose for creating HECC was to establish an independent certification body for amateur hockey equipment, primarily head protection. USA Hockey (USAH) mandates the use of HECC Certified Equipment.
